I am battling Aetna PPO to cover a diabetic DME (Continuous Glucose Monitor). I have followed every step/policy Aetna has asked of me to complete this appeal process. I am ANGRY that when I ask something of them, they do not even acknowledge my request! In my last appeal letter I specifically asked for 4 things from them if they denied my appeal again:
1. Study references they used to deny my appeal (URL format)
2. Full listings of financial and other relationships which any insurance companies and other payers (such as Medicare/Medicaid, Military Tricare, VA, etc.) have with their study authors.
3. Medical license numbers of their decision maker(s).
4. An appropriate legal contacts address.

My questions is: Do I just go ahead with my next appeal, or do I call them up on not supplying me with the information that I requested and demand that they do it?

IT states in the medicare manual etc thata you MUST pay the medicare part A deductilbe before they pay for your hospital stay. Do you send the money to medicare or what. The hospital told me they do not take the money upfront and they bill medicare adn then I will get my bill but how can that possible be if you MUST pay your deductlbe first in order for them to pay for your stay. This makes no sense to me. I told the hospital and they told me some hopstials take the money up front with some co-insurance etc ans some don’t. I find this very worrying as if the hospital does not take my deductilbe for Medciare part A how will medicare pay for my hospital stay. Can anyone help me here as I asaked Medicare if I should send them my deductible for part A for my inpatient stay and they said not to us………..has ahyone had surgery as an IN patient on Medicare and if so did you pay your deductilbe and to whom and was your stay covered and if you did not pay ;your dedcutible for part A hospital in patient was your stay covered and did Medicare bill you your deductible after the onset of your stay. They make it clear you must pay your deductible upon the onset of your stay but hte hospital is telling me different. Help somone as my surgery is next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!——-thankyou

These numbers don’t account for the Uninsured ones, who were almost at the 30% of each races population, and it doesn’t account to the amount of Births, but the fact is that illegals, hispanics and blacks are draining our system, and this has to end.

My mother-in-law had a stroke on Saturday and has been in the hospital since then. She was laid off four months ago and did not purchase the cobra. The insurance her and her husband bought had turned out to be a scam and doesn’t cover the hospital bill which is now $20,000. She also will require Live In Physical Therapy for the next few weeks which is about $1000 a day. We live in NYC and she does not qualify for medicare/medicaid.
Is there anyway to get her insurance to cover the Physical Therapy (since is might be considered a pre-existing condition) and is there any way to reduce the hospital bills accrued so far?
